DEK 3963   Automated Screen Print System

The MicroDEK System Three Printer Loader is a precision screen printing machine designed
to print substrates for the hybrid circuit industry.

The machine comprises the following elements:

1]  A multi-cassette unit which handles cassettes of substrates and delivers these substrates
          individually to.....

2]  A feed system which transports the substrates to.....

3]  A printhead which takes the substrates delivered by the feed system, prints them and
        returns them to.....

4]  A second part of the feed system which transports the printed substrates to.....

5]  A collocator which accepts a preset number of printed substrates, and spaces them at a preset
distance and then transports them onto a dryer belt or whatever the next element
            in the system may be.

Further machine features include two rotate stations positioned one before and one after the printhead.  These may be used to achieve 90 or 270 degree rotation of the substrates traveling
through the feed system.  Additionally, an off line inspection station with back lighting is provided.
This allows printed substrates to be withdrawn from the feed system, inspected and then returned
back to the feed system with minimal disruption to the process.

The operator interface to the machine is via a display unit with four buttons positioned between the multi-cassette and the printhead.  All print parameters such as pressure, snap off etc. may be set via this unit and up to 119 menus of these print parameters may be stored and retrieved for later use even if the machine has been powered down.  Other, less frequently changed parameters such as collocator gap, collocator pitch and pull through position are set by bit switches on the logic boards housed in the logic crate positioned under the collocator.

Machine control is carried out by three 6809 microprocessors.  One of the processors controls the feed system including the multi-cassette and collocator, another controls the printhead and the third is the master processor which takes care of the top level machine control such as displays, error handling and print sequence control.  The logic crate houses the three processor boards along with all inputs and outputs to and from the machine and the control cards for all the motor around the machine.

The machine power is positioned under the logic crate.

A warning beacon fitted on top of the multi-cassette unit and a siren mounted under the collocator are provided to alert the operator to the machine.

Connections

Transformer enclosure and outlet wiring are detached for shipping, but outlet connections
are fully pre-wired and terminated for re-connection at installation.

The total incoming supply capacity at 380/480V, is 18.5kVA, based on the current demand
at the full rating of the sub-circuit circuit breakers, [CB's].  Vacuum and pneumatic generation
is assumed to be external to the system.  The power balance is tabulated as follows:

INCOMING SYSTEM ELEMENTS SUPPLY
380/480V Various
18.5kVA  Printer/Loader  1.5kVA
  Un-Loader 1 kVA
  Dryer  16kVA

Pneumatic Power

Requirement for pressure air is at the Un-Loader only.  The supply requirement is nominial and adjusted to the required pressure at the Un-Loader regulator.

Connections to the air supply point are made at the point indicated, using the quick release
self sealing coupling supplied, [1/4" BSP]

PRESSURE CAPACITY
4 to 6 bar Nominal
